"Working so intimately with the metal gives me an almost visceral sense of breathing life in to it."
    - Alexander

Beginning with a flat sheet of metal, Alexander cuts out shapes to bend and form. Unlike traditional blacksmithing, he doesn't heat the metal but instead works with it cold using custom jigs for bending, a variety of mallets, and hammering it out against forged anvils and other organic structures to give it definition. Once he achieves the desired forms, he welds the sections together and meticulously grinds the metal until smooth. Whether the sculpture is bronze, aluminum, or stainless steel, he employs various techniques for surface finishing, such as polishing, applying patina, or painting. Each approach involves multiple stages to attain the flawless finishes he is known for.
